frequently asked questions

How do I choose which photographer to use?

Choosing a photographer for your wedding day is one of the first things you need to do as many photographers can be booked through to the next year. The Wedding Group helps you to make an informed decision on who to book to capture your big day and give you lasting memories.

A wedding photographer is an individual who is well used to coping with the pressures involved with a wedding. A professional will assist you with the preparations for your wedding day photographs and timings. Good photographers fit in with your wedding and do not take over.

Ultimately you should choose someone with whom you are totally at ease and are confident to get exactly the style of pictures you want.

What qualifications should I look for?

The most important qualification a photographer has is their current portfolio.

Ideally any photographer you choose should be professionally qualified, BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photographers), MPA (Master Photographers Association) or other similar qualifications. All members of The Wedding Group are professionally qualified.

You should look at examples of their work, not just for one particular wedding but also a variety of weddings. You are looking for a consistently high quality of work.

How can The Wedding Group help me to find the right photographer?

Unlike most wedding directories, The Wedding Group’s listing is for professional photographers only. The photographers are chosen for their photographic and presentation skills. They are all qualified members of professional photographic bodies. Group members are invited to join on the merits of their work alone and social skills.

Can The Wedding Group save me time in finding a photographer?

Yes. The Wedding Group website contains a massive database of information regarding the photographers availability for specific days and/or locations. Upon entering your chosen wedding date and location, photographers availability will be shown within the chosen region, saving you time in investigating the sites of photographers who would not be available to photograph your wedding.

My photographer has fallen ill two days before the wedding day and will not be available to photograph our wedding. Can you help?

Yes, by contacting The Wedding Group administration at info@jlphoto.co.uk They will check the internal database to see if there are any available photographers to cover your day. Certain days of the year, however, are extremely popular and in extreme circumstances there may be no available photographers as all may be booked. In these cases we will try to help by advising you of other professional bodies that may be able to help.
